Fix a Missing G: Drive (Reconnect Google Drive for Desktop)

If your G: drive has disappeared from File Explorer, the Google Drive for Desktop app has most likely been signed out or lost its connection. Reconnecting it usually takes less than two minutes and does not delete any files.

Before You Start

Make sure you are connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or wired network).

Have your school/work Google account email and password ready.

If you use two-step verification, keep your phone nearby.

Look at the bottom right corner of your screen, near the clock. Find the system tray icons.

If you do not see the Google Drive icon (a colorful triangle), click the small up arrow (^) to show hidden icons.

Click the Google Drive icon.

If a window appears showing your account is signed out, click Sign in (or Get Started if this is the first time).

If you don't see the application running, simply open your start menu and click on Google Drive

If opening for the first time, click Get Started

Click Sign In

A new window will be opened for you to sign into your account.

You Google Drive is now synced to file explorer

You will have access to your Google Drive and Shared Drives again
